So Sunday I posted my frustration of run flat tires and no spare. Of course this put into buy tires now mode after searching online I found Discount Tire had the tires I wanted at only $6.00 more per tire than Tire Rack. That was the good news, the bad news was they were not in stock and wouldn’t be here until Wednesday. Which meant Thursday morning was the earliest I could get them installed due to my work schedule. Not having much choice I placed an order online and went about preparing to be car less until then.
Much to my surprise the local store called me yesterday saying they could have the tires there in the afternoon, but there was no way I could be there before they closed. They also had no morning appointments until Thursday however they take no appointments between 8-9 am so if I wanted to I could show up at 8 and they would work me in.
I got there at 7:55 this morning to find 5 other people waiting for them to open. I prepared to wait a while. By 8:45 I was out the door paying the exact price quoted online. No upsells no crap just new tires.
I’ve never bought tires there before but I will again that is for sure.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Discount Tire. My local shop does what they say they’re going to do, for the price that they quoted. They’re cool guys, too.
A couple of years ago, I bought a tire/rim package for my E46 from Tire Rack, mounted and balanced. One of the tires had a slow leak right out of the gate, and I took it to Discount Tire - it just wasn’t seated correctly, they fixed it and refused to charge me anything for it. Even though I didn’t even buy it from them.

My last set of tires came from Costco, but I have had good experience with Discount Tire in the past. Glad you got it sorted.

Discount frequently exceeds my expectations for a chain tire store. Always friendly, always quick, and surprisingly open to negotiation. I always buy from Discount Tire Direct and have them shipped to me and have the local DT instal them.

And this is how cotomer sevis brings in business. If all businesses understood this, the world would be a happier place.

I was always extremely happy with America’s/Discount tire. I spent so many thousands of dollars replacing the meat on my Dakota. Those rear tires got to bear the brunt of every good and bad day I ever had.

I work in customer service, actually I train people to work in customer, but anyway that’s why I wrote this up. In today’s online world people are eager to complain but few praise good customer service. I felt the way they took care of me deserved some praise. I’m impressed by them.

Making future customers. That’s just good business.

I’ve had nothing but great experiences with Discount Tire. The staff is always very friendly, never try to upsell, and the prices are very fair.

I’ve always had a great experience at Discount Tire but won’t buy tires there anymore on account of their owner and his support for our former racist Sheriff here in Arizona.

Discount Tire fan here, too. They are finally bringing DT to Louisiana, so I know where all of my future tire purchases will be!

It is, but it’s funny how many businesses don’t think that way these days...

Yeah, and it would make both customers and businesses happier in the long run, I think.

Miracle on 34th Street should be required viewing for all people.

Is that the corporate owner or your local store owner (I presume these are franchises?).

Dang, he supported Joe Airpaio? I’ve been very much on the Discount Tire bandwagon and this disappoints me greatly.

I bought Bridgstone G-Force Comp 2's this spring from tire rack and got taken to the cleaners at Les Schwab for a mount and ballance ($120). I could have bought them at Discount for about the same cost and saved $120 mounting fee..... I learned my lesson.

They are not franchised. The founder and chairman, Bruce Halle, is the richest person in Arizona. He was a big supporter of Sheriff Joe and even put up election signs at stores around Maricopa County.

I’ve had good experience with them as well - they’re even nice enough to patch tires they didn’t sell for free if you pick up a nail.
Last set I bought from them was when I still had my Miata. I had a long commute and apparently didn’t realize how badly my alignment was killing the tires (Yoko S-drives). It started feeling squirrely in the wet, so I stopped at Discount on the way home just to shop, but examined my tires before walking in and saw cord on the inside fronts. Dammit. Go inside and the guy helps me, runs outside to check the tires, seeing what I did on the fronts. What I didn’t see that he pointed out was the bulge on one of the rear tires, from some pothole I must’ve hit. He was like, “I don’t want to scare you but, look at this.”
I had been driving 60 miles/day on those tires! So, I went inside and asked him his recommendation (I didn’t expect to buy tires that day), and he hooked me up with a set of Continental ExtremeContact DW. He quoted a price of something like $634.29 out the door and I said, “Man, $600 even sounds a lot better” and he smiled and just said okay, waiving a couple of their fees.
In my experience, they really do have great customer service.

Dammit, there’s always a downside... :/

Just to note, if DTD is only $6 more than TR, that means the DTD option is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper actually since DTD includes shipping in the price. Whereas you will be paying $50 to $100 more from TR. I love that DTD does this because the prices on TR are so misleading because of it.
And I think if you buy from DTD and actually have a Discount Tire near you, that works out even better.

I’ve had good luck with them and with Les Schwab (but I’ve seen a couple shady things at the one near me, so I quit using them as my closest Discount Tire is better). They’re both good about being helpful even if you never bought anything from them.
The worst I’ve experienced in recent years was Sam’s Club (hopeless incompetence) and car dealerships (they damage a wheel every damned time they do an oil change and rotation).

Yep. Put up election signs at Discount Tire stores a d was a major donor.

Yeah, when I saw the signs I was like, for real, bro. Guy is a billionaire, like the Sheriff really affects him.

Well, if you’re going to do that sort of thing, you risk the wrath of your customers. This applies regardless of which side of the aisle you’re on.

They ended up taking the signs down once a boycott was called. Real strong with his convictions. It does suck because their stores are really well run and have great prices. I found a little tire shop which matched their price on the Pirelli run flats for my BMW. I need to find a space saver spare so I don’t have to keep buying these run flats

Yeah, I almost wish you hadn’t told me this (not really).
I’m not a fan of run flats - - my wife has an X3 with them, I think I paid $300 for a new one recently (at Discount Tire of course...).

I think trying to make people happy in your job improves anybody’s disposition, even if it’s not their ideal chosen line of work.

I started with discount tire back in 2001 when I needed tires for my Dakota and I was working in Detroit. I’ve been a loyal customer ever since. I’ve probably purchased over a dozen sets of tires for my own personal vehicles over those years, not to mention the onesie, twosies I do for my charity group. I tell all my family to go there as well. They will match tire rack prices with a small markup that wouldn’t even cover the shipping costs from tire rack. And you get lifetime balancing and rotations. And I have yet to pay for a flat repair... well repairable flat repairs. I’m a big fan. Glad you had a good experience. If you can plan ahead enough, the appointment scheduling is the best. You schedule your slot, show up on time and they have your car in the bay before you find a seat... well almost ;) but you get the idea.
